Yash Chopra's statue launched at UTV STARS Walk of the Stars!

Yash Chopra left for his heavenly abode last year, leaving behind a repetoire of wonderful cinema and everlasting moments of romance. With a view to commemorate his priceless contribution to Indian Cinema and pay him an iconic tribute, his wife Pamela Chopra and son, Uday Chopra, unveiled his statue, which will be installed at UTV STAR’S premium property Walk of the Stars, at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade.

Yash Chopra directed 22 films in his lifetime including iconic titles like ‘Deewar’, ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Trishul’, ‘Lamhe’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Veer Zaara’ and ‘Jab TakHainJaan’ to name a few. In 1979, Yashji founded ‘Yash Raj Films’. The prestigious banner has to its name, several critically acclaimed and successful movies and has been instrumental in giving several actors a breakthrough in the film industry.

“Yashji was a dreamer. He was a man who didn’t just make romantic movies or romanced cinema, he romanced life, with love as the most important ingredient. Yashji understood the ever evolving nature of love, and brought alive its multiple facets on the silver screen during his career spanning over 60 years. Yash Chopra has been, is and shall always be the king of romance in my life and in the lives of his fans”, said Mrs. Pamela Chopra, while commenting on unveiling her husband’s statue at the UTV Star’s Walk of the Stars.

Commenting on the tribute to Yash Chopra, at the Walk of the Stars, Nikhil Gandhi, Business Head, UTV STARS, said: “Walk of the Stars has become an iconic landmark in Mumbai with many fans getting a slice of their favorite superstars. Yash Chopra’s contributions to Indian Cinema are unparalleled. The launch of his statue at the Walk of the Stars is our way of paying a tribute to a legend".

The statue will be put up at the UTV Star’s Walk of Stars at Bandra Promenade shortly after, along with the likes of Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor whose most memorable avataars in a statue form have are already been installed for fans.

UTV STARS Walk of the Stars was launched early last year with the felicitation of the legendary ‘Kapoor Khandaan’. Prithiviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and KareenaKapoor’s tiles bearing their respective hand prints, were also installed at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade, Mumbai along with brass statues on a bench of the great Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. The latter half of the year witnessed Dev Anand statue launch at the walk on his first death anniversary. The UTV STARS Walk of the Stars is open to public on all days, free of cost
