YouTube introduces activity graph to all videos

YouTube is introducing a new video activity graph to all videos that will show the most engaged times inside each upload based on how often people replay segments. The graph, which was first shown to select artists in October and is now available to everyone, will help users identify the most relevant parts of every YouTube video.

YouTube claims: "The  graph’s peaks reflect the most replayed areas of the video, and the graph will only emerge once the user begins to seek. In our testing, we discovered that viewers adore this function, with 85 percent of consumers preferring it." This may be especially useful for longer films or tutorials. If one is having trouble with a specific element, it's probable that others are as well, and the portion of the tape with the most engagement will be the easiest to scroll through and find. Users now have a new option to scroll through and identify certain sections of each tape, which could effect view time from the authors' standpoint. The existence of the video graph did not diminish watch time in YouTube's studies, according to various creators. As more users have access to this service, it may be worthwhile to monitor your statistics. YouTube is now bringing video chapters support to smart TVs and gaming consoles, giving users yet another method to access certain sections of a video.

On another front, YouTube’s also added a new tool in YouTube Studio which enables creators to see which auto translated captions are used most on their clips. This can assist creators in determining which languages are most relevant to their audience, which will aid in determining which translations to focus on in your own caption uploads, as well as offering more insight into the audience that your clips are reaching.

The new translations report can be found under the Audience tab or in advanced analytics under the subtitle report. Finally, YouTube has raised the maximum fee of a monthly channel membership from $99 to $499.
