Zee Action Goes Pink with WTP of Gulaab Gang

Come Saturday, 22nd August at 8 PM, Zee Action - India’s one stop destination for action films - will turn pink with power and performances with the World Television Premiere of Anubhav Sinha’s action drama, Gulaab Gang.  Directed by Soumik Sen, starring two heavyweights of Bollywood Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla, Gulaab Gang revolves around a group of fearless women fighting social injustice in a trademark rural set-up accompanied by witty yet fiery dialogues.

Speaking on the occasion, Ruchir Tiwari, Business Head, Hindi Movie Channels, ZEEL stated, “Zee Action has grown tremendously in last six months owing to the phenomenal response received from audiences on the genre. Gulaab Gang brings together Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla for the very first time on celluloid and also marks Juhi’s debut in a negative role. “I was appalled when they came with the script,” quips Juhi Chawla, “I was apprehensive to play this kind of character who was completely evil from the first to last scene. So, I refused the role at first! But I liked the spunk in Gulab Gang. Later on, I started enjoying the role and when I saw myself on screen, I loved it and it turned out to be the best role of my career.”

Anubhav Sinha excited with the film’s premiere on Zee Action commented, “I am so looking forward to it. These days TV Premieres are so well publicized that it feels like another release. What inspired me most with Gulaab Gang was the fact that it is a commercial potboiler on the surface but touches upon some serious social matters that needs to be addressed.”

Gulaab Gang narrates the story of Rajjo (Madhuri Dixit) a fearless and honest woman vigilante who runs a one of kind shelter for abused women, where are taught to be strong and independent. A crusader against all things evil Rajjo and her Gulaab Gang take up basic issues like dowry and rape and social issues like water and electricity shortage that plague the village. Situation soon turns ugly when a powerful politician Soumitra Devi (Juhi Chawla) enters the village. Thus beings the story of classic David vs. Goliath, where the underdog Rajjo takes up the mantle to eradicate Sumitra Devi’s wicked scheme of plans.
