Zee Classic pays tribute to 75 years of musical genius in 'RD Night'

They say nothing can make you nostalgic like a lingering perfume or a mesmerising musical note that magically transports you to your good o’l days. RD Burman’s music is exactly that as he is responsible for so many lives to connect with their younger sentimental voice.

Pancham Da showed the traits of a musical genius even when he was in his cradle. Born to the illustrious music director Sachin Burman, young Pancham Da promised his father that his success would one day supersede his father’s accomplishments. Not only did he achieve that at a younger age but he also outperformed his father by leaps and bounds.

Pancham Da’s steps towards success became visible at the age of nine when on his father’s request; he managed to create fifteen musical melodies in just two days. The legendary tune for ‘Sar jo tera chakraaye’ was composed by Pancham in his tween years. And this legend of golden era went on to become one of the most formidable figures in the history of Indian music.

If Pancham Da, were to be remembered, it would be for numerous reasons! Like for his contribution to the world of music, his ingenious understanding of sounds, the effective use of musical instruments, his unique style of singing and most important of it all is his zest for life.
