Zee Classic premieres ‘Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi’ on 6th May at 1 PM

There can’t be a better way to commemorate an artist than to celebrate his artistry. Vinod Khanna who breathed his last on Thursday was one such prolific actor whom the industry adored. Backed by his dashing persona and character driven performances, he gave us films which would always remain timeless. Zee Classic, with its brand proposition of ‘Woh Zamaana, Kare Deewana’ dedicates a special homage to him by showcasing the World Television Premiere of his last film Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi on Saturday, 6th May at 1 PM.  The film also stars Hema Malini in the title role along with Sachin Khedekar and Rajesh Shriganpore.

Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi, based on the book ‘Rajpath se Lokpath par’ is authored by current Honorable Governor of Goa - Mridula Sinha and revolves around the life of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia. Deeply saddened at the loss of Vinod Khanna, Mridula Sinha said “It is difficult to believe that one of the most prolific actors of yesteryears, Vinod Khanna is no more amongst us. His timeless performances would always stay with us. His last film was Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi which released recently. But I am deeply hurt that he couldn’t be a part of the same. Based on my book, this film had Vinod Khanna play a pivotal character and he often wished for its speedy completion.”

Gulbahar Singh, the director of the film said,. “The last time we spoke was in December 2016 when I called him to give him the news that our film has got the censor certificate. He was keen on promoting the film and attend the Delhi premiere. When I heard that he has been hospitalized last week, I had sent him flowers. He was really happy that we could complete the film.”

Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi touches upon the life, lifestyle, struggles, victories and defeats, thoughts of Vijaya Raje Scindia and their significance in present and future times. There are only a few political personalities whose lives stretch across both the eras. Such a life is Rajmata Vijayaraje Sindhia’s, which was impacted by the common man’s dreams before independence and their hopelessness after it. The frustration affected her psyche and shaped an ordinary girl into a spirited leader.
