Zee News Survey 'Delhi Assembly Elections'

With hectic election campaigning at its peak and only two days left for voting in Delhi for assembly elections, Zee News, part of India Largest News Network Zee Media Corporation Ltd. initiated an interesting survey on Delhi assembly elections, gauging the mood of people.

The survey covered all the 70 assembly constituencies of the state and came out with interesting findings.

Initially, the mood of Delhi's voters seemed to be in favor of BJP.  According to the survey conducted for Zee Media by TALEEM Research Foundation, the mood has swung largely in favour of Arvind Kejriwal with 42.3% of respondents favouring Arvind Kejriwal as the Delhi Chief Minister.  BJP candidate Kiran Bedi is second with 40.3%.  However, BJP is still ahead of AAP when it comes to Government formation. (basis on 1512 respondents, which include 50% male and 50% female).

At present, in the 70-member Delhi House, the BJP and its ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has 29 MLAs - down from 32 after its legislators Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pravesh Verma were elected to the Lok Sabha. AAP has 27 members, while the Congress has eight.  The findings of the survey conducted today shows BJP getting 32 – 36 seats, and AAP giving tough fight to BJP to get 30 – 34 seats. Congress is now forecast to win 3 – 5 seats.

According to the survey, Delhi will witness a close competition between BJP and AAP.
