Zee Tamil presents 'Mahasangamam' festival till March 2021

Renewing its commitment towards its promise to entertain, Zee Tamil has opened the new year in full steam, with new and innovative content strategies across all its segments, keeping its audiences on their toes! As 2021 gains momentum, so too has Zee Tamil, with a number of surprises up its sleeve, one of which is the trend of ‘Mahasangamam’ episodes across various shows, which has gained a lot of popularity and traction among audiences.

The year began with ‘Triveni Sangamam’ – a unique amalgamation of three shows in the afternoon segment, which was a first of its kind in the south television space. The coming together of Rettai Roja, Endrendrum Punnagai and Rajamagal, for a period of two weeks, was met with adulation across all the ardent television viewers in Tamil Nadu. This has resulted in a 3.3 TVR ( TN Urban 15+) for Wk52 as per BARC and  has boosted the channel to the No.2 position (13:30-15:00 Mon – Sat) in the afternoon time band.

Currently, the channel is airing mahasangamam episodes of Oru Oorula Oru Rajakumari and Sathya – two of Zee Tamil’s popular prime time shows. These episodes began airing on 9th January 2021, and will continue till 22nd January 2021, daily from 9:30-10:30 pm

The concept of mahasangamams executed seamlessly for a long duration with the confluence of multiple story plots have been attempted in the Tamil entertainment space before, and Zee Tamil is quickly veering towards actively contributing to this evolving genre. Moreover, viewers have shown an avid interest for such formats, as it has the potential to offer a potpourri of genres, be it romance, comedy, thriller, suspense, or drama.

In the new normal, television viewing has played an enormous role in filling the void created in the absence of new movie releases, and Zee Tamil has shown exemplary skill in making the most of this situation  and providing a cinematic experience through their fiction and non-fiction shows.

The channel has planned to air mahasangamams of many of its other popular shows until the month of March 2021:

Mahasangamam episodes of ‘Neethaane Enthan Ponvasantham’ and ‘Suyavamsam’ will be on your television screens starting from 25thJanuary to 7th February 2021 between  7.00 – 8.00 pm daily.

An amalgamation of 2 different tales, on the one hand, Neethane Enthan Ponvasantham revolves around the romantic entanglement of the 40-year-old business tycoon Surya Prakash and the 19-year-old middle class ambitious girl Anu. On the other hand, Suryavamsam is a family drama which takes a refreshing look at the strong family bond of the Suryavamsam family headed by Annammal, who had disowned her own daughter Kalyani for marrying against her consent. How Samantha, Kalyani’s daughter unites the two families forms the crux of the plot.

The sangamam will focus on how Anu helps Surya Prakash seal a business deal with the Suryavamsam family  by convincing Annammal with the help of Samantha, which had failed in previous attempts by Surya Prakash’s brother Chandra Prakash, and how Samantha also slowly starts getting accepted in the family.

This will be closely followed by the mahasangamam of ‘Gokulathil Seethai’ and ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ from 6th – 19th February 2021 between 8.00 – 9.00 pm daily. (Dates are tentative)

The previous mahasangamam of these 2 stories catapulted Zee Tamil into slot leader position in prime time between 8 to 9 pm. The second coming together of these 2 families would be no different and would entertain the viewer to the fullest.

The Mahasangamam marathon continues on Zee Tamil with 2 other popular shows, ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ and ‘Sembaruthi’, which will air from 27th February to 12th March 2021 from 8.30 – 9.30 pm daily (Dates are tentative)
