Zee TV's 'Doli Armaanon Ki' will replace 'Punar Vivah' from 2nd December '13

While Punar Vivah on Zee TV is all set to make an exit, the channel is ready to replace it with their new offering Doli Armaanon Ki. The story revolves around lead character Urmi played by Neha Marda and her journey as a bride who has loads of expectations and hopes from her marriage.

For every young girl, her wedding is, undoubtedly, the most eagerly awaited day of her life. She nurtures a million hopes and dreams about her marriage and envisages about her prospective husband and her own thoughts on the kind of life she wants to lead post marriage. However, the picture-perfect life she envisions for herself and what destiny has in store for her may not always be the same! Set in Jhansi, Bundelkhand, Doli Armaanon Ki is the story of one such starry-eyed, small-town bride Urmi who enters the institution of marriage, her eyes brimming with hope. Will Urmi find her knight in shining armour who will sweep her off her feet and whisk her away into a fairytale wedding only to live happily ever after or will she end up disillusioned? The story is all set to unfold.

Ajay Bhalwankar, Head-Content, Hindi GEC's ZEEL, commenting on  the new show  replacing Punar Vivah, said, "For us both the seasons of Punar Vivah were a success.  Both the seasons showcased the issue of re-marriage and were based on the premise of marriage so this show Doli Armaanon Ki continues with the tradition.”

Explaining how this story is different from other shows based on life after marriage he said, "There are very few young women in the country who may not have dreamt of a fairytale wedding. Women particularly from smaller towns, have a rather innocent, idealistic view of life after marriage. Doli Armaanon Ki tells the story of Urmi who, like most other girls her age, wants a wonderful, happy married life. Will Urmi’s husband turn out to be the ideal partner she has always pined for? Family audiences the world over will be able to relate to Urmi’s journey as the sentiment is universal.”

Zee TV as a channel has always worked on issues concerning women. For example Saat Phere, Agale Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Punar Vivah, Ek Mutthi Aasmaan were some of the channel’s earlier offerings and now is continuing that trend with Doli Armaanon Ki.

Starting 2nd December at 10:30 pm Monday through Friday, the show on Zee TV sees the comeback of two of television’s favorite faces. Neha Marda returns after a hiatus as the lead of the show–the bright-eyed bride Urmi. Talking about the show, Neha said, “This show is more or less a comeback show for me since the shows I did post my wedding were all cameos. I am glad to be playing the lead protagonist in a show that is so relevant to every young girl in the country.” Playing the lead opposite Neha is the ruggedly handsome Mohit Mallik. His character of Samrat Singh Rathore is that of a young, ambitious go-getter businessman who has achieved plenty at a young age and even employs his own elder brother. He has strong views on how a man and his wife must relate to each other.  Veteran actors Geeta Tyagi and Anjali Mukhi will be seen essaying other important roles in the story.

Doli Armaanon Ki is produced by Pearl Grey’s Spellbound Productions. About the show and her association with Zee, Pearl said, “Having been a part of Zee TV’s own in-house programming team, it is an absolute pleasure to associate with the channel once again – this time as a producer. Doli Armaanon Ki, as a subject, will find an instant connect with the audiences as every young girl has her own ideas about what her dream man and ideal marriage should be like. So, viewers will be able to identify with Urmi.  Doli Armaanon Ki beautifully captures a bride’s journey of hope.”

The writer of the show, Shanti Bhushan, who has earlier written for shows like Pratigya, Agale Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo and others, explained," This show will showcase the journey of a girl's life, since  a girl lives two different lives one  before marriage and the other post marriage. This story will portray how a girl named Urmi dreams about her Mr. Perfect and her married life.  It will depict how she actually lives with the reality, so the show connects with minute things which every girl will relate to after watching Doli Armaanon Ki."
"There is no melodrama in the show as in the case of most other shows on television today. It is about a girl's dream about her married life, and how she starts compromising and adjusting with situations. As of now we are still working on the first episode which we shot in Jhansi for five days,” he added.

For Zee as of now the three fiction shows which are slot leaders are Jodha Akbar, Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se and Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke with good viewership numbers whereas Ek Mutthi Aasmaan is growing week on week in the 7 p.m. slot and Qubool Hai on the channel too is picking up. Now, with their new show Doli Armaanon Ki it is time to wait and watch how this new offering on Zee TV will entertain audiences and grab eyeballs.
