Zee TV to revive the concept of love with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya

We have seen love being expressed in different ways on our television screens.  More often than not it is the concept of “girl meets boy… boy and girl fall in love…boy and girl get married” which is common in most love stories. However it’s the process of falling in love interpreted in various ways which leads to ‘happy endings’ that make every story unique from the others.

Likewise, Zee TV presents a beautiful story titled …Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, conceptualized by ace producer Rajan Shahi of Director’s Kut Productions. Based against the backdrop of the Pink City viz. Jaipur, the show boasts of an interesting cast who form the characters of the two families who are central in the narrative.

…Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya talks about this sublime experience that a young and spirited Avni is waiting to discover in her life. Woven beautifully around the culture and traditions of the Marwari community, Avni lives, eats and breathes romantic books and romantic movies. Her notion and her idea of love is fuelled by these visuals until the moment of truth happens and she realizes that what she was looking for was always right in front of her. Both the families belong to the same community but follow a very different value system.

Producer of the show who is also directing the series along with Romesh Kalra and Neeraj Baliya, Rajan Shahi said, “…Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya is a look into the life of a young girl who leads a protected life in the city of Jaipur. She is bound by the rule book that her highly traditional family has laid down for her. It captures the journey of Avni who transcends the boundaries set for her and begins to experience life in all its glory. We’re glad to have found our Avni in Kaanchi and Raj in Mishkat. We wanted a cute, innocent, young face and Kanchi fits the bill to the tee. Mishkat has got the typical chocolate boy good looks and is soon to become another heartthrob in the industry. Reena is also making a comeback to TV after a long time.”

Bhalwankar further added, “The show is actually for today’s generation, it is not about kitchen politics, it is not about any other melodramatic narratives. The story came natural to Rajan, his team and all of us. We try to break two myths through this show, one is that love stories do not work on television and the other is that love on television screen means running away from love or dying for love. …Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya talks about happiness and various aspects of love. It shows every facet of love and is a non-controversial love story.”

…Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, is a journey of discovering, accepting, negating and falling in love. A coming of age story about two young people who have different notions about love. The story celebrates the first flush of love…the small, tender moments which develop between these two individuals, painted against the picture perfect backdrop of the pink city. To quote Alexander Smith who said “Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition” so will love find our protagonist Avni??

Rajan Shahi has always believed that fresh stories require fresh talent and Director’s Kut Productions has always encouraged and provided a platform for newcomers.
Elaborating on that one element which works well for DKP, Shahi said, “Every show of mine has a sense of positivity. I can proudly say that after Ekta Kapoor, DKP is the one which has given maximum new comers to television industry, the reason is simple that I like to invest in new comers.”
For Shahi the time slot allotted for his shows do not make much difference. With the show being allotted the 10 pm slot Shahi opined, “I never ask for particular slots for my shows as I am superstitious. I am just concerned about my work and I think that’s far more important.”

Zee recently launched a romantic show Doli Armano Ki and now this show too talks about love and romance.  Emphasizing on the fact that Zee never repeats its stories or follows one pattern of story-telling Bhalwankar said, “We look for fresh ideas which can surprise people and give them variety of entertainment. The channel has no intention of working on a similar format back to back.”

The show is replacing Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi which did not work well for the channel, and hence they are moving ahead with the new show.
As a part of marketing and promotion for the show, channel has lined up a well rounded plan which includes endorsements in print, on television, DTH, and cable platforms amongst other initiatives. An interesting audience engagement program targeting couples is also underway.

The key cast for the show includes newbie Kaanchi Singh as Avni and Mishkat Varma as Raj in the lead roles. Avni’s parents’ characters will be played by the graceful actress Reena Kapoor and Rajeev Singh respectively. Other key cast comprises of Waseem Mushtaqh, Ashita Dhawan, senior actor Rajeev Verma and newcomer Nikita Agarwal amongst others.

Shahi is of the opinion that with television evolving at a great speed it is growing bigger than Bollywood in terms of revenue and employment.

Love doesn’t appear with any warning signs. Everyone has their own version of falling in love. Some call the moment magical, some call it explosive. It’s one unique and unmistakable experience, an exhilarating mix of feelings that brings two people together. This new year Zee and DKP brings together this simple yet complicated concept called ‘love’ and one’s realization of it, …Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya is all set to premiere on January 6th 2014, Mon – Fri at 10 PM.
