ZMCL builds leadership team; hires CBOs for Zee Media and WION

ZMCL, the leading media house of India, has on-boarded Madhu Soman as the Chief Business Officer for WION and Joy Chakraborthy as the Chief Business Officer for Zee Media’s Mumbai office to further strengthen its presence as one of the leading media entities.

Madhu Soman has over 25 years of core broadcast and digital media industry experience, having worked with Bloomberg in Hong Kong as head of broadcast sales, Video Services in London as managing editor. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Mr. Soman was associated with Reuters as Journalist for 14 years. In the past, he has also worked with companies such as Spectranet, ANI, BiTV. With his high proficiency in journalism, Soman will aggressively support the editorial and business segment of the venture.   

Joy Chakraborthy has over 29 years of core media industry experience, having worked with Goldmines Telefilms, Enter 10 media, TV Today Network, Forbes India, Times group and TV 18 group in various roles and positions. He will be instrumental in driving key responsibilities such as, defining and executing the right strategy for business development activities while ensuring its fit with the company's broader vision and ambition.

An alumnus of Harvard Business School, this is Chakraborthy’s second stint with Zee Group as he started his career with the Zee Entertainment, while this time around he has joined the news wing of Zee group which is Zee Media. With his high proficiency in managing business, Journalism Mr. Chakraborthy will Oversee Sales, distribution and marketing team, revenue generating avenues and build a strong client base for sales in News channels.
