Zomato.com Launches Events Section In Delhi NCR

Zomato.com, India's largest online food and lifestyle guide, in a major move last week expanded into the Events category. This is in line with their strategy to rebrand from Foodiebay.com to Zomato.com in November 2010 and reposition themselves as a premium lifestyle brand from a food-only brand.

Zomato.com, which already lists over 18,000 restaurants and nightlife options for foodies across 10 cities in India, launched its Events section for Delhi NCR with over 250upcoming events under various categories such as arts & literature, music & dance, food & drink, entertainment to name a few. With a strong overlap in the target audience, the Events section on Zomato.com will help current and new customers find that perfect place to "get a life" in their city.

Zomato.com's restaurants section is known to be unique from other websites owing to its quality and depth of content and simple interface (only website that provides menus for more than 95% of restaurants listed). Zomato.com'snew Events section offers the same unique experience, by providing far more detailed content combined with a visually stunning interface and experience compared to similar portals in India. Users can discover events happening in their city by date, view event details, location & timings, pictures and also view similar events and restaurants near by.Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO, Zomato.com said, "It's been a while since we have been serving our huge customer base by helping them make their eating out and nightlife choices.

We have launched our Events section as we realize these are the same customers who would also like our services to help them choose their destinations to hang out and enjoy. Our focus has been user centric and we are only including events, which makes sense to the end user. For example, if a restaurant is trying to pull off a marketing gimmick by calling a new dish in the menu an event, we have not put it in the section. We will be launching our events sections for Mumbai and Bangalore shortly and I'm confident they will all be very well received like all our offerings have been so far!"

Zomato is now 3 years old and gets more than 10 Lakh monthly users across 10 cities in India ' Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh. Zomato had raised an investment of 4.7Cr in August 2010 from Info Edge, one of the largest Internet companies in India, to fund its product development and marketing and is currently talking to investors for its second round of funding.
