Zomato forays into in-app video content with 18 originals

Food delivery app, Zomato has announced its entry into web streaming with 18 original shows over the next three months.

The three to 15 minute-episodes will be available on the latest version of the Zomato app starting 16th September. They will primarily be shot in a vertical frame. These will come under the new ‘video’ tab on the app and will be categorized by genres like shows, recipes and Sneak Peek restaurant stories. The Zomato video experience will launch with 2000+ videos including Zomato Originals, which will be available to stream in India. The Sneak Peek and recipe videos can be accessed anywhere in the world.

All Zomato original shows will be centered around food, but engage with other formats like comedy, fiction, reality and celebrity interviews. The shows include titles like 'Food and You with Sanjeev Kapoor', three-minute daily show that breaks myths and changes the way you think about food and your body, 'Banake Dikha' with stand-up comic Sumukhi Suresh etc.

Zomato will join the list of platforms who are foraying into in-app content. Flipkart rolled out their video service earlier this year. Myntra, Head, Amar Nagaram had said in an interview with Adgully that video content raised the overall timespent on the platform to 20 minutes on average daily.
