In conversation with Adgully, Srestha Chatterjee, MD & CEO, Kohsa Analytics, speaks about her passion to build a greener and more sustainable world, her success mantra, organisations she would like to work with, and more.

What particular skill sets do you think you bring to the table?

  1. Strong passion for the work my company does
  2. Strong knowledge and clarity in my field of work
  3. Great marketing skills as I truely believe in the quality of our services

How did you join your current organisation?

I founded Kohsa under the guidance of my father in May 2018. And the simple motivation behind starting this work was to do something at the macro level and help the world be more greener and sustainable.

Who are the icons in this field whom you look up to and how have they influenced you and your work?

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw - She is not in the green engineering field per se but she is a pioneer in bio technology which is also a highly technical and engineering oriented field. She is the pioneer in her segment and started working when there were very few women in technology. Same goes for me. I am passionate in having more women in the engineering segment and one day wish to inspire someone else the way she has inspired me.

What are the five most productive things that you do in your everyday routine?

  1. Start my day early and sleep on time which gives me good energy to start my day
  2. Make a schedule of the whole week first thing on Monday mornings and then look at my schedule every morning so that I dont miss out on important tasks and can allot my time accordingly
  3. Take out 1 hour every morning for myself reading/ watching news
  4. Take out 1 hour for research every evening to get my creative juices running
  5. Try to speak with at least one client everyday and get feedback on our work.

Do you think a career in this field is a viable one in the long term?

Of course! Green engineering and sustainability is the future and I have been lucky to have started this journey before it became so popular. Specifically in a category (water and air pollution), which requires immediate attention throughout the world.

What does it take to succeed in a career?

Dedication and Discipline.

What would be your advice to youngsters planning to enter this industry?

This is a very upcoming field with lots of opportunities lying ahead of you. Plus, people who work in this field can actually work towards changing this world. That’s the kind of passion and power this industry holds.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I don’t really plan that ahead in time, because I can only control the work I do and how I do it. So, keeping that in mind, hopefully still doing some amazing work with clients across the world and not just in India, while changing the assumption that women plumbers, electricians and technicians are the exception and make it the norm.

Is there any organisation that you would like to work with in the future?

I would definitely like to work with HUL and ITC. They are well known and very strong Indian brands who are very passionate about sustainability and green engineering.
