This years Republic day like other years saw broadcasters putting their best foot forward and airing some of their finest content from their bouquet . While some aired the 66th Republic Day Parade live some showcased patriotic movies,. History TV 18 in their quest to WOW their viewers went a step ahead and aired "Gandhi". The show dwelled into the past of India’s freedom struggle and showcased some lesser known facts related Gandhi's life.
Hosted by journalist Mishal Husain, this first definitive series on the life of Gandhi examined his relationship with his wife and his role on the path to Indian independence. While he remains, unquestionably, India's most revered 'Father of The Nation’; his personal side still remains an enigma because there not enough known about his personal life. He remains a revered figure in the annals of history who went through trials and tribulatioins on the countries journey to Independence. This series charts Gandhi's Establishment beginnings, his move into politics and his campaign to bring independence to India
Journalist Mishal Husain traced the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, examining the personal and political challenges faced during his rise from obscure lawyer to political and spiritual leader of the Indian independence movement.
To get a deeper understanding, we at Adgully caught up with Sangeetha Aiyer, VP & Head, Marketing A+E Networks, TV18. "Gandhi’s life and his role in India’s freedom struggle impacted not only a nation of people, but an entire subcontinent," she added.
On asking about Mishal Husain being apt to host the show this year, Aiyer said, "With her Pakistani heritage, Husain was the most suitable host for a show that examines the other side of India's revered messiah and delves into the personal and political challenges faced by Gandhi during his rise from obscure lawyer to political leader of the Indian Independence movement."
On the promotional front History TV 18 made their special Republic Day line-up plan quite early and extensively used television and online. "We had three fascinating shows scheduled back-to-back from 12PM-7PM," Aiyer told us.
While ‘Gandhi’ explored Mahatma Gandhi's journey from Mohandas to Mahatma, ‘India on Four Wheels’ took the viewers on a ride through the chaotic cities and rural back waters of our country. Completing the line-up was 'The Birth of Empire: The East India Company’, a show that throws light on the greatest enterprise of the time.
Along with the promos on their channel, they were also pushing the shows on their social media pages and the HISTORY TV18 App. "We were also tweeting using the Hashtag #EmpireToRepublic as we traced the progress our nation has made till date and the figures who have had a major impact on its development," Aiyer stated.
HISTORY TV18 has always delighted their viewers with appropriate shows and this time brought for their audiences a fascinating line-up of three shows from 12:00PM to 7:00PM.
