Tujhko Chalna Hoga' Doordarshan pays homage to Manna Dey

In a bid to remember and celebrate India’s music legends and pay humble tribute to the legendary singer Manna Dey; Doordarshan Kendra, Delhi has put together a gala event – “Tujhko Chalna Hoga… Remembering Manna Dey” on 12th April, 2015 at 5:30 pm at Siri Fort Auditorium.

The event will be inaugurated by renowned Pt. Birju Maharaj and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Dr. Hans Raj Bhardwaj, Former Governor, Karnataka is the special guest of the programme. Prasar Bharati Chiarman, Dr. A. Surya Prakash will be the Chief Guest.

Guests of Honour include Shri C. Lalrosanga, Director General, Doordarshan; Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, AVSM, Director General, Indian Coast Guard; Shri Deepak Vohra, Spl. Advisor (Minister) to Prime Minister, Lesotho; Dr. H.R Nagendra, Chancellor, Swami Vivekanada Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana; Shri A.T. Sainudin, President, Delhi Malayalee Association; Dr. Rajasekhar Y L, Head Medical Surgery, Vasan Healthcare, Bengaluru; Shri Amarjit Singh Kohli, Chairman, SAKHA, New Delhi and Shri Basavaprabhu Patil, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.

The artists/groups performing at the event were chosen through a process of auditions which saw a tremendous response. Among the 800 applications received, the shortlisted 15 singers and 5 dance groups would be performing Manna Dey’s evergreen songs.

The show is tentatively scheduled for telecast from 1st May 2015, in a series of 6 episodes, on DD National followed by DD Bharati.
