ZEE TV presents India's First Female Superhero 'DEVI' - The Epitome of Strength

Following the success of Aryan, the first amongst Zee TV’s superhero trilogy- ‘Maharakshak’, the channel presents the second edition - Devi. Zee TV strengthened its weekend programming with this finite series Aryan, which appealed to the target audience with its right mix of action and drama. The show with its slick production values, innovative visual effects and ingenious cinematography has raised the bar for action thrillers & the fantasy genre on Indian television.

The second part of the series, traces the journey of Devi, the most powerful girl in the world with extraordinary powers and is produced by Essel Vision Pvt Ltd . The irony is that she has spent 17 years away from human civilisation in the Rann of Kutch  is unaware of the infinite power she possesses. Her extraordinary journey starts when she becomes a part of the human civilization.  She will eventually realize her superpowers with the help of her mentor ‘Brihaspati’.   The title role of Devi is played by young & spunky actor Umang Jain a popular face in the ad world. Apart from being a part of numerous ads, she has also worked in Bollywood and south films. Speaking about her character, Umang  shares, ‘I make a comeback on the silver screen after eight years. Action, fantasy fiction thrillers with female protagonists have not been explored much on Indian television and I am glad I get to make my comeback with such a different concept. I consider this a great opportunity to showcase my talent. Devi has stayed away from human civilization for 17 years and has immense knowledge of mythology, vedic arts, science, ashtang yoga and martial arts. I am a trained dancer and a brown belt in martial arts, so flexibility is not an issue but I am still undergoing training to prepare for the role and play my part with complete conviction. I hope the audiences like me in this completely different and new avatar’.

Devi is the super human saviour of this planet and will protect it from all kinds of contemporary evils that have found new faces & outlets in the modern world. She is the epitome of strength. Just like the first part of the Maharakshak trilogy, Devi will showcase the triumph of good over evil. The good is represented by Devi (played by Umang Jain) and auditions are on for the role to be played by the male antagonist. Watch this space for more on the show...!
