Delhi Airport creates some brand love on Valentine's Day

First Parle G hits on Chaayos, now Delhi Airport has stepped up on Valentine's Day to reveal their heart's desire. In the past, Swiggy had created a buzz by engaging Spotify on social media for their #EatThePlaylist campaign. The witty Tweet did more than just catch the eye of Indigo Airlines, it also brought in a flood of engagement from users on Twitter.

And Indigo Airlines replied, “@delhiairport Oh darling, your love brings me back on-time, every time! #DELlovesYou #ValentinesDay2020 #LetsIndiGo

They also engaged with social media users. So when user @shivangigulati3 said, “Hey @DelhiAirport @IndiGo6E kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khyaal aata hai, jaise tujhko banaya hai ek duje ke liye #KeepLoving #ValentinesDay2020”

They responded with, “*Nazar na lage* #6EValentine #ValentinesDay2020”

The more sober minded among us may ask, ‘why is the one of the busiest airports engaging with one of the busiest carriers on Valentine’s Day?’

To create more brand love, manage the reputation of the Airport or find a way to be remembered on Valentine’s Day? We could think of a few possibilities.

A more pertinent question perhaps is why some unconventional brands choose to engage audiences on social media and how their platforms create a unique opportunity to engage these audiences differently.
