5th edition of India Today Art Awards announced

India Today Art Awards, the biggest art festival is back with its 5th edition taking place on Thursday, 5th December 2019 at Altair Boutique Hotel, Kolkata. The Art awards will honor the best in the field of art, encourage & showcase the best of contemporary Indian Art and embrace all the aspects of the Indian Art Market.

Art is no longer a beautiful piece on the wall at home or office, it more about investing and business of art. In the past few years there has been emergence of a new set of artists who have been experimenting with a whole gamut of material.Keeping this dynamic art scenario in mind, India Today Group instituted the India Today Art Awards, which seek to encourage and showcase the best of Contemporary Indian Art and embrace all aspects of the Indian Art Market.

To honour the bold is to stand by them in their rebellion or their expression, which is what the India Today Art Awards believes. For the fifth edition, the process has been democratized and the categories have been announced for artists, curators, galleries and collectors to send in their nominations based on the criteria listed. Based on the nominations sent in from across the spectrum, the jury will then decide on the deserving candidates who will be awarded On December 5 in Kolkata.

The award categories are - Curator of the year; New Media Artist of the year; Retrospective Exhibition of the year; Artistic Collaboration of the year; Artist of the year; Collector of the year; Lifetime Achievement award; Best Performance Artist of the year; Solo Exhibition of the year; Emerging Artist of the year and Public Art Initiative of the year. The jury for the art awards is Aroon Purie, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, India Today Group; Rekha Purie, Chairperson, Vasant Valley School ; Amin Jaffer, Chief Curator of the Al Thani Collection & International Director, Asian Art, Christie's; Priya Paul, Chairperson, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels; Madhu Neotia, Initiator & Managing Trustee, Neotia Arts Trust; Pinky Reddy, Art Enthusiast and Aman Nath, Restaurateur & Writer

The past editionsawardees included Himmat Shah, RameshwarBroota ,AnupamPoddar , RoobinaKarode, Godrej India Culture Lab, amongst others.
