BARC Wk 1 ratings: In FTA tussle, Zee Anmol takes the lead in R+U

BARC ratings for the first week of 2018 (December 30, 2017 – January 5, 2018) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw Zee Anmol surge past Star Bharat to reclaim the numero uno spot. This is in sharp contrast to Week 1 of 2017, when the tussle for the top spot was between Star Plus and Colors. 

FTA channel Zee Anmol was back at No. 1 as the new year began from the second spot on Week 52, garnering a gross viewership of 685,344, a slight increase from 682,234 last week. Re-run of the hit show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ was placed at the fourth spot with 9,955 (000) Impressions. 

Meanwhile, Star Bharat, which ended 2017 topping the Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban, slid a notch to the second spot in Week 1, recording a gross viewership of 678,228, a further decline from 692,154 recorded in Week 52. Its show, ‘Kya Haal Mr Panchaal’, was placed fifth among the most watched shows with 9,939 (000) Impressions. 

Colors remained unchanged at No. 3 in Week 1, garnering a gross viewership of 598,060, a marginal decline from 600,546 recorded last week. 

Zee TV climbed up a notch to the fourth spot this week. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 569,854, a decline from 591,855 recorded in Week 52. Both ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ continue strong into the new year. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ was the most watched show with 11,181 (000) Impressions, while ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ followed in the second spot with 10,554 (000) Impressions. 

Sony Pal, too, climbed up a notch to the fifth spot in Week 1, garnering a gross viewership of 557,297, a decline from 561,552 recorded last week. 

Star Utsav, which had moved past Zee TV to claim the fourth spot in Week 52, slid a couple of notches this week to No. 6. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 546,867, a decline from 600,396 recorded last week. 

Star Plus continued to be placed at No. 7 in Week 1 as well, garnering a gross viewership of 545,437, compared to 501,322 recorded last week. 

Rishtey, Sony Entertainment Television, and Sony SAB continued to be placed at No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, in Week 1. 

Rishtey garnered a gross viewership of 455,178, a further decline from 465,438 recorded in Week 52. 

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television saw further increment in its gross viewership – from 420,804 in Week 52 to 422,853 recorded this week. Also, the channel’s talent hunt show, ‘Super Dancer Chapter 2’ was placed in the third spot with 10,042 (000s) Impressions. 

Sony SAB, on the other hand, saw a decline in its gross viewership – from 388,490 in Week 52 to 379,657 recorded this week.
