BARC Wk 31: Star Utsav trumps Zee Anmol, Zee TV to claim No.1 spot

BARC ratings for Week 31 (July 28 - August 3) [HSM (U+R): NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] had quite a few surprises in store. Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban have a new leader. After seeing steady gains for the past few weeks Star Utsav finally claimed the numero uno spot, beating the likes of Zee TV and overtaking Zee Anmol. On the other hand, after being in the No. 1 spot for several months, Zee Anmol slipped to the third spot this week. 

After seeing steady gains over the last few weeks and climbing up four notches to the second spot in Week 29, Star Utsav reached the numero uno spot in Week 31. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 672,028, a further increase from 646,474 recorded last week. 

Zee TV, too, saw gains this week, after slipping a couple of notches to No. 4 in Week 30. The channel was back in the second spot in Week 31, climbing up a couple of notches. Zee TV garnered a gross viewership of 662,938, an increase from 638,796 recorded last week. Two of its shows feature among the most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. Spin-off show, ‘Kundali Bhagya’, stayed at No. 2 this week with 13,148 (000) impressions, while marquee show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, was placed at No. 3 with 12,800 (000) Impressions.  

After remaining the undisputed leader among Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban for several months, Zee Anmol finally had to relinquish this position in Week 31, as the channel slid a couple of notches to No. 3. The channel saw a further decline in its gross viewership – from 673,461 recorded in Week 30 to 652,641 this week. Re-run of the hit show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, slipped a notch to No. 5 among most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 11,329 (000) Impressions.  

Star Bharat, too, slipped a notch to the fourth spot in Week 31, garnering a gross viewership of 638,043, a decline from 644,544 recorded last week.  

On the other hand, Star Plus saw gains this week, climbing up a couple of notches to No. 5 from No. 7 in Week 30. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 629,941, a further increase from 557,681 recorded last week. 

The slide continued for Colors in Week 31 as well, as the channel slid a notch to the sixth spot in Week 31 despite two of its shows doing well. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 602,352, a marginal decline from 607,306 recorded last week. Colors’ prime property, ‘Naagin 3’, continued as the most watched show in Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 16,677 (000) Impressions. Dance reality show, ‘Dance Deewane’, climbed up a notch to No. 4 among most watched shows on Hindi GECs with 11,426 (000) Impressions. 

Sony Pal slid a notch to the seventh spot this week, recording a gross viewership of 582,609, a decline from 603,033 recorded in Week 30. 

Rishtey climbed up a notch to the eighth spot in Week 31, garnering a gross viewership of 526,501, an increase from 441,164 recorded last week. 

Sony Entertainment Television, on the other hand, slid a notch to No. 9 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 498,865, a slight increase from 492,703 recorded in Week 30. 

Sony SAB remained unchanged at No. 10 this week, with a gross viewership of 456,529, an increase from 431,641 recorded in Week 30.
