IPL still a big hit among viewers!

The biggest cricketing extravaganza in the history of Indian Cricket, The Indian Premier League has always witnessed large number of crowds coming to the stadiums, rooting for their favourite players and teams. The tickets have always been sold out no matter which place the match is taking place at.Not just the stadiums but people are hooked on to the TV sets as well when it comes to IPL. Even after being in its 8th edition, IPL has not lost out on its viewers.

This fact is confirmed by the TAM Media ratings. The 45 matches of IPL8 were viewed by an enormous 182 million unique viewers. With matches being played out with a lot of passion and aggression the viewership of IPL has surely gone up this season. As a comparison from the 7th edition of IPL, according to TAM’s data IPL8 ratings are up 25%. The time spent by viewers per match was 45 Minutes and 4 Seconds; which is 9% more compared to IPL 7 which was 41 minutes and 39 seconds as a result of lot of close finish/tight matches.

Credit has to be given to the crazy and passionate fans that our glued to their television sets that they’re following IPL closely even as it has been a long running cricketing season which started with India’s tour of Australia in November. The time spent by viewers per match has so far been 45 minutes and 54 seconds compared with last year's 41 minutes and 39 seconds, recording 10% growth. The average TVTs showed a growth of 23% for IPL 8 as compared to IPL 7 last year.

Up till its 5th week IPL 8 has garnered an average TVR of 3.6% which is 22% more as compared to its previous edition. 68% of the All India Universe tuned to watch IPL 8 matches.
