NBF expresses concern over journalists testing positive for COVID-19

The News Broadcasters Federation, is deeply concerned about the unfortunate reports of more than 50 journalists of electronic media, particularly camera persons, testing positive for presence of COVID-19, in Mumbai. NBF has also received reports of similar instances in other parts of the country including Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The NBF stands with the journalists and camera persons who act as frontier warriors, risking their life to disseminate the right information and counter the barrage of fake news, about the pandemic and the ensuing lockdown to reaching out to the largest part of India’s 1.3 billion people, and stall the spread of this deadly virus.

While the News Broadcasters Federation eagerly awaits the advisory to be released shortly by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; it urges media organisations and journalists to take adequate care and maintain social distancing during their line of duty. NBF will extend all necessary support to the affected people.
