Passenger Vehicles register 6.10% growth April-October 2018: SIAM

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has stated that the automobile industry produced a total 19,575,255 vehicles, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers and quadri-cycles in April-October 2018 as against 17,112,236 in April-October 2017, registering a growth of 14.39 per cent over the same period last year. 

Domestic Sales 

The sale of Passenger Vehicles grew by 6.10 per cent in April-October 2018 over the same period last year. Within Passenger Vehicles, the sale of Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicle, and Vans grew by 5.87 per cent, 5.19 per cent and 12.96 per cent, respectively, in April-October 2018 over the same period last year. 

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 35.68 per cent in April-October 2018 as compared to the same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) increased by 42.80 per cent and Light Commercial Vehicles grew by 31.56 per cent in April-October 2018 over the same period last year. 

Three-Wheeler sales increased by 31.97 per cent in April-October 2018 over the same period last year. Within Three Wheelers, Passenger Carrier sales registered a growth of 36.71 per cent and Goods Carrier grew by 13.21 per cent in April-October 2018 over April-October 2017. 

Two-Wheeler sales registered a growth at 11.14 per cent in April-October 2018 over April-October 2017. Within the Two-Wheelers segment, Scooters, Motorcycles, and Mopeds grew by 6.10 per cent, 14.19 per cent and 6.36 per cent, respectively, in April-October 2018 over April-October 2017. 

Exports 

In April-October 2018, overall automobile exports grew by 24.10 per cent. While Passenger Vehicles exports declined by (-) 3.28 per cent, Commercial Vehicles, Three-Wheelers, and Two-Wheelers registered a growth of 26.58 per cent, 62.99 per cent and 25.94 per cent, respectively, in April-October 2018 over the same period last year.
