Twitter powers users to create hashtags in Indian languages
Twitter went into a frenzy when India battled against Pakistan in #CWC15, many users including the BCCI Tweeted congratulatory messages using the hashtag #जयहिन्द. This hashtag went on to become the first ever non-English hashtag trend in India.

Twitter has now rolled out hashtags in all Devanagari script based languages: Marathi, Sanskrit and even Nepali, as well as Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Gujarati, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Users all over India are embracing this development. The pulse of every moment is now being captured in the vernacular. It was #जयहिन्द trend on Sunday, while on Tuesday users also got two hashtags trending — one in Hindi #हरहरमहादेव, to mark the religious occasion of MahaShivartri and the other in Tamil #தமிழ்வாழ்க which means #LongLiveTamil.
Several celebrities are getting involved in the conversation using the new hashtags. Actor Dhanush was excited about the launch of hashtags in Tamil
