Actress Khushalii Kumar on her challenging role in ‘Starfish’

Trailer of film Starfish, starring Khushalii Kumar, Milind Soman, Ehan Bhat and Tushar Khanna has just been released. The trailer suggests that the film is based on the book "Starfish Pickle," and Khushalii plays the character Tara. Sharing her challenges for the role, Khushalii says: “My character, Tara is very emotionally challenging for me. There is a scene in the film where my character goes through an overdose of drugs. And the most difficult part was to come back to the real world after enacting the scene.”

Khushalii also shares some insights into her personal connection with water, expressing her love for swimming. She credits her brother, Bhushan Kumar, for helping her overcome water phobia in their childhood by throwing her into the pool. In the film, she plays a professional diver, and being in that zone, along with playing a layered character, was a fun experience for her.

She further adds: “We were shooting at Malta where the temperature was chilling. Few scenes inside the water were extremely tough. But my passion and love for cinemas kept me going. I did not even have sea sickness when we were shooting inside the sea. It took me exactly one month to get into the skin of my character.”

Directed by Akhilesh Jaiswal and written by Bina Nayak, the mysterious romance-drama is set in an underwater world, dealing with the heavy themes of grief and healing. Formerly titled ‘Starfish Pickle’, the movie is now simply called ‘Starfish’ and will release in theatres on November 24, 2023. Overall, it seems like "Starfish" will not only be visually captivating, especially with underwater scenes shot in Malta, but it will also offer a layered and emotionally engaging storyline, particularly with Khushalii Kumar's character Tara going through significant challenges.
