Ajay Devgn: The king of cop universe and brands turns 55

Ajay Devgn is celebrating his 55th birthday on April 2. The actor has started 2024 on a good note, with his film ‘Shaitaan’ opening to good reviews as well as earning decent money at the Box Office. The film has collected Rs 137.72 crore in India and Rs 195.72 crore worldwide approximately till last week.

The actor began his acting career nearly three decades ago with the film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ in 1991 for which he won the Filmfare Award in best debut category. He then made his debut as a producer with ‘Raju Chacha’, which starred his wife Kajol with him under his banner Ajay Devgn Films. His first film did good business. However, one the most expensive films he has ever produced under his banner was ‘Shivaay’ (2016), which was said to have been made with Rs 125 crore and earned Rs 148.91 crore. A year prior to this, Ajay also ventured into visual effects and established his own studio, NY VFXWAALA, which won a National Award for ‘Shivaay’. He also started directing with ‘U Me Aur Hum’ in 2008, which also featured him with Kajol. Ajay is one of the few actors from the industry, who takes profit shares for his films.

Apart from this, Ajay not only produces and distributes the films, but he has his own chain of multiplexes – NY Cinemas, which runs in select cities.

Ajay also endorses quite a few brands, including Dabur Hajmola, Amul Comfy underwear, Bagpiper, Vimal Pan Masala, Whirlpool, Sangam Textile, Exxaro Tiles, Dr Ortho, and many others.

Ajay, son of action choreographer Veeru Devgn, has two bungalows in Mumbai and is said to have another property in London. As per reports, he not only owns a fleet of luxury cars, but has a private jet too.

On the work front, Padma Shri and National Award winner Ajay will next be seen essaying the role of a football coach in ‘Maidaan’. His character is based on Syed Adbul Rahim’s life, who helped the national football team to bag two gold medals at the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962. ‘Maidaan’ is set to release on April 10.

Some of his films in the pipeline include, ‘Singham Again’, ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, Luv Ranjan’s untitled film, Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’, ‘Raid 2’, ‘Golmaal 5’, and others.
