Ameen Sayani was a pioneer of radio presentations: Pritam Pyaare

Iconic radio presenter Ameen Sayani passed away on February 21 at age of 91. His decades-long career has always inspired many generations. Radio presenter and actor Pritam Pyaare recalls his fond memories in an interaction with Adgully.

Pritam says, “Ameen ji has been a legend; he had followers not just from whoever is attached to radio, but also from various walks of life. If we talk about radio presentations, he was actually a pioneer for us. He was like God, we have heard his voice since childhood. He was such a simple, yet incredible human being. I got the opportunity to meet him a few times and whenever I met him, he would greet me with love and talk to me nicely. He has created so much content for all of us. In fact, during his time with his show, he created stars.”

Revealing further about his meetings, he says, “I used to be like a child in front of him. He had so much knowledge and insights on the industry. It is very inspiring not only for me, but I think for everyone and for the coming generations as well.”

Pritam believes that we should celebrate his life at this point of time and says, “You cannot do anything against God’s will sometimes. His journey as a person may have ended here. But he is a legend and will remain a legend. His name will always be there in history, whenever anyone will talk about Radio. He had a wonderful innings as a presenter and we should celebrate his life. I want to convey my condolences to his family and may God give them strength in this difficult time.”

He further says, “Many people still try to mimic him and this is proof that he has influenced many people. There was a time that radio was not getting the desired audience and he managed to revive its identity. He could connect with the younger generation so well because he constantly upgraded himself with the changing times, just like Amitabh Bachchan. There is always some sort of rivalry if you are in the same profession, but with Ameen ji, it never happened. He was above all this. He has done some amazing work in the industry and that will always remain with us.”
