Balaji Telefilms’ Group CEO Abhishek Kumar quits

Abhishek Kumar has stepped down as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Balaji Telefilms. The company announced that Kumar is leaving due to personal reasons. This information was shared in a statement to the BSE.

The company stated that the resignation took effect at the end of business hours on June 15, 2023.

Kumar started working at the company in July 2022, replacing Nachiket Pantvaidya, who left the organisation in May of the same year.

Kumar has more than 20 years of experience in various areas such as business strategy, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), operations, and investing in technology and media. Before joining Balaji, he worked as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and general partner at Jupiter Capital, which is a Private Equity Funds company based in India. In his role at Jupiter Capital, he was responsible for overseeing the operations and investments of the company's new funds.

Before starting Jupiter Capital, Kumar held a position as Managing Partner at Rainforest Venture Network, where he was involved in a venture capital network. He also worked as an Advisor and Partner for various family offices, providing guidance and support for technology and consumer investments.

Abhishek has more than 20 years of experience in business strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operations, and investing in the technology and media industries. He has worked with well-known companies like Rainforest Ventures, Snapdeal, TV18 Broadcast Limited, and NDTV.

In the past five years, the company has seen four CEOs resign. Sameer Nair, Sunil Lulla, and Nachiket Pantvaidya all stepped down one after the other. Kumar is the most recent CEO to resign from the position.
