BARC Wk 1 ratings: Dangal continues strong into the new year

BARC India data for Week 1 (Saturday, 4th January to Friday, 10th January) of 2020 saw Dangal, Star Plus, Sony Entertainment Television, Star Bharat and Star Utsav registered an increase in their gross viewership in All Platform (HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals). Dangal continues firm into the new year. 

All Platform 

Dangal began the year by garnering a hike in its gross viewership to 1,288,934 in Week 1, as compared to 1,235,577 recorded in Week 53. Continuing in the second spot, Star Plus, too, saw an increase in its gross viewership at 735,170, from 691,706 recorded in Week 53. Also remaining unchanged was Colors, which was placed at No. 3. The channel saw a marginal decline in its gross viewership in Week 1 at 675,526, from 676,916 recorded last week. 

Sony SAB and Zee TV swapped places this week, with Sony SAB climbing up a notch to the fourth spot with a gross viewership of 621,468, but saw a decline from last week’s figure of 659,358. On the other hand, Zee TV slipped a notch to the fifth spot, garnering a gross viewership of 583,928, a decline from 662,944 recorded in Week 53. 

Sony Entertainment Television climbed up a notch to No. 6, garnering a gross viewership of 500,477, an increase from 494,872 recorded last week. Big Magic slipped a notch to the seventh spot. The channel saw a decline from 509,308 recorded in Week 53 to 442,912 recorded this week. 

There was no change in the positions of Star Bharat and Star Utsav, which continued at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively. Both the channels saw an increase in their gross viewership. Star Bharat’s gross viewership increased to 291,483, from 277,249 recorded in Week 53; while Star Utsav’s gross viewership increased to 205,505, from 206,072 recorded last week. 

Colors Rishtey is the new entrant in Week 1, entering the top 10 list in the tenth spot, replacing &TV. The channel has secured a gross viewership of 173,371.
