BARC Wk 22 GEC ratings: Most of top 10 GECs record decline in viewership

Dangal continued to lead the Hindi GEC space in Week 22 (Saturday, 30th May 2020 to Friday, 5th June 2020) on All Platforms, while Star Plus led the Pay Platforms, as per BARC data [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals]. Mythological shows continued to dominate the most watched shows’ list across platforms.

Dangal continues in the numero uno spot with a gross viewership of 1,225,575(000) in Week 22, an increase from 1,208,418(000) recorded last week. Star Utsav is the only other Hindi GEC in the top 10 list to have seen a growth in its gross viewership this week at 407,370(000), as against 401,490(000) recorded in Week 21. The channel also climbed up a couple of notches to No. 5 from the seventh spot last week.

The remaining top 10 channels saw a decline in their gross viewerships.

Placed in the second spot was Star Plus, which garnered a gross viewership of 762,934(000), a decline from 783,816(000) recorded in Week 21. This week Sony SAB climbed up a notch to No. 3, however, the channel, too, saw degrowth with its gross viewership at 642,237(000) as compared to 694,926(000) recorded last week.

On the other hand, Big Magic slid a notch to the No. 4 with a gross viewership of 640,599(000), as against 700,398(000) last week. Colors remained unchanged at No. 6, garnering a gross viewership of 402,150(000), compared to 425,742(000) recorded last week.

After seeing a peak in the early and mid-lockdown period, DD National now sees a slide. The channel has seen a decline in its gross viewership to 355,556(000) from 436,735(000) recorded in Week 21, even as it slid a couple of notches from the fifth spot last week to No. 7 in Week 22.

There is no change in the rankings of Sony Entertainment Television, Sony Pal and Zee TV, which continue at No. 8, No. 9, No. 10, respectively, in Week 22.

All three channels have also seen a decline in their gross viewerships, compared to the previous week.

Sony Entertainment Television’s gross viewership has declined from 361,454(000) in Week 21 to 342,576(000) this week; Sony Pal’s gross viewership has declined from 288,826(000) in Week 21 to 285,160(000) this week; and Zee TV’s gross viewership has declined from 244,706(000) in Week 21 to 223,171(000) this week.
