BARC Wk 25: India TV leads Hindi News genre in HSM with relative share of 13.5%

The Hindi News genre, perhaps the most hotly contested television genres, has seen an overall increase of 4% in Week 25 (Saturday, 18th June 2022 To Friday, 24th June 2022), as per BARC India data [All Days, 06:00-24:00, TG : 15+, Market : HSM, Period : Wk 18'22 to Wk 25'22, Hindi News Genre consist 12 Hindi News Channels, AMA 000s]. This genre had been witnessing decline from Week 18 onwards, before the slide was stemmed in Week 24, when the genre recorded a 2% growth.

In Week 25, India TV lead the Hindi News genre with a relative share of 13.5% as per BARC data [All Days, 06:00-24:00, TG : 15+, Market : HSM, Period : Wk 23'22 to Wk 25'22]. This is the consistent third week in which India TV has topped the Hindi News genre in HSM.

With a relative market share of 12.8%, Aaj Tak follows. The channel has registered steady growth over the last three weeks – 12.5% in Week 23, 12.6% in Week 24 and 12.8% in Week 25.

On the other hand, News18 India saw a slight dip in its relative market share to 11.9% in Week 25, compared to 12.2% in Week 24 and 12.2% in Week 23.

TV9 Bharatvarsh is placed fourth with a relative market share of 10.9% in Week 25. The channel has been witnessing a decline in the previous two weeks as well – 12.8% in Week 23 and 11.8% in Week 24.

At No. 5 is Republic Bharat, which as garnered a relative market share of 10.8% in Week 25, a slight increase from 10.3% in Week 24 and 10.1% in Week 23.

Comparing the data for the last 8 weeks for HSM Urban Market, India TV has maintained its lead in the Hindi News genre with 14.5% relative share in Week 25 [BARC, All Days, 06:00-24:00, TG : 15+, Market : HSM Urban, Period : Wk 18'22 to Wk 25'22].

Aaj Tak has been consistent at No. 2 in HSM Urban Market over the last 8 weeks, recording a relative share of 13% in Week 25.

New18 India in placed at the third spot with a relative share of 11.8% in Week 25, while Republic Bharat follows with a relative share of 10.3%. When comparing to the last 8 weeks’ data, Republic Bharat has been placed in the fifth spot. Over the last 8 weeks, TV9 Bharatvarsh was in the fourth spot, but the channel slid a notch to be placed at No. 5 in Week 25 with a relative share of 9.4%.

As per BARC data [All Days, 06:00-24:00, TG : NCCS A, Market : HSM, Period : Wk 18'22 to Wk 25'22], India TV has been leading the Hindi News genre, recording a relative share of 15.2% in Week 25. It was followed by Aaj Tak (13.8% relative share), Republic Bharat (10.9% relative share), Zee News (10.9% relative share), News18 India (10.6% relative share), and TV9 Bharatvarsh (9.0% relative share).
