BCCI plans to sell TV & Digital rights of bilateral cricket series separately: Report

The strong competition between the Digital streaming and TV broadcasting of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be seen in other cricket series as well. As per media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to split the digital rights and TV broadcasting rights for all bilateral cricket series involving the Indian cricket team.

As per media reports, a BCCI official was quoted as saying that this was being done with a view to get maximum value from the template used for the IPL seasons 2023-27. As is known, separate bids were called for the TV and Digital rights for IPL seasons 2023-27, which were won by Disney Star and Viacom18, respectively.

BCCI garnered a record Rs 48,390 crore or $6.2 billion after the auction of media rights for IPL seasons 2023-27, which far exceeds that of Rs 16,347.5 crore paid by Disney Star for the combined TV and Digital rights cycle previously.

After IPL, bilateral cricket series continue to be the second highest revenue earner for BCCI.
