Begin with a bang: SAB TV's Kapoor

The new year seems to be lucky and a positive start for a GEC that positions itself differently. A know fact, channels largely work on ratings and 2014 has proved to be the nice start for SAB TV. The channel has received an all time high viewership in the week gone by. The channel has been the fourth most watched Hindi GEC with 360843 GVTs (last week: 330358 GVTs).

Adgully caught up with Anooj Kapoor, EVP and Business Head, SAB TV, to know how was the start for the channel and what worked well for the channel to achieve noteworthy growth.

"Sab TV started the year 2014 with a bang! 170 is unprecedented and that makes it evident that it's a fantastic start for the year", said Kapoor.

"All shows are working well for us but its four - five shows which have really worked out for us. Its Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Bal Veer, Chidiya Ghar, Jeannie AurJ uju and SAB Khelo SAB Jeeto as non fiction property that we have, working well for us", he added.

On asking him, whether the channel is planning to bring in non-fiction property and also how the new packaging done last year helped the channel. He said, " We might bring new non- fiction property for the channel. The packaging and content what we have now is over delivering for us, but yes we'll increase number of hours programming for the channel in the next fiscal year."

While the channel has robust line up of shows for the year to go; apart from the typical GEC market, Gujarat, Rajasthan, M.P. and Maharashtra are the stronger markets for the channel he stated.

SAB TV is known for providing family entertainment through its shows and events. Elaborating further he said, "Events we do are different, as our shows and positioning for our channel is of family entertainment channel like Sab Ke Parivaar Award or Sab Ke Satrangi Parivaar Awards. These events which we do are not stand alone in themselves but helps further re-positioning the channel and reassure the consumers that SAB TV is the one - stop shop for light-hearted family entertainment.
