Bhopuwala Creative Solutions bags 2 silvers at NY Radio Festival Awards

New York Festivals Radio Awards announced the 2023 Storytellers Gala award winners on April 18th to honor the best audio work done by more than 40 countries across the world. Reaching the top list of awardees, India backed one gold, two silver and one bronze award with multiple finalist certificates. 

Podcasts 'Bhagat Singh Ki Jail Diary' and 'Judge Me Not' produced by Delhi NCR-based production house Bhopuwala Creative Solutions has won two Silver Awards in the 'Best Performance by an Actor’ and 'Social Justice' categories at the prestigious New York Radio Festival Awards making it the company with multiple trophies this year. 

The New York Radio Festival Award is considered to be the biggest radio award in the world and is popularly known as the Oscars of Radio.

It is noteworthy that “Do Not Hang Me” an episode from the podcast 'Bhagat Singh ki Jail Diary' was the only entrant to be shortlisted and later awarded in the 'Best Performance by an Actor’ category not just from India but across the world. Abhishek Sharma (also the founder of Bhopuwala) who essayed the role of Shaheed Bhagat Singh said “I am thrilled and on top of the world with this news. It is important that the youth of today listens to the ideology of the great sons of the soil like Shaheed Bhagat Singh ji, we feel fortunate that our names were taken in the same sentence with him at the international podium. He further went on to say “I would like to  thank Bhagat Singh brigade and especially Yadvinder Singh Sandhu grandson, Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s younger brother Kulbir Singh for allowing us to use actual letters by Shaheed Bhagat Singh for our podcast Bhagat Singh Ki Jail Diary.   

It is also to be noted that the silver award in the 'Social Justice' category for ‘Judge Me Not’ a podcast featuring coming out stories from the LGBTQAI+ community came at a time when the community is fighting a battle for its rights with the government. This massive win has provided an International recognition and a global platform to suppressed unheard stories from the community beating world known media houses like Al Jazeera, Bloomberg Podcasts and The Washington Post in the catagory of social Justice podcast.
