Bijoy Nambiar on shooting simultaneously for ‘Dange’ and ‘Por’

Director Bijoy Nambiar unveiled the trailer of his film, ‘Dange’. The film’s Tamil version is named ‘Por’. It is for the first time that Bijoy has shot two different versions of the same film at the same time, at the same location, but with different actors.

Bijoy says, “This story is based on true events, though it is not my life experience. It is a college drama and those incidents that you see in the film have actually happened in real life. One of the writers who has written this film has witnessed those incidents. So, we have taken some inspiration from that. However, we have also added some fictional things to it.”

The Hindi and Tamil versions of the film feature different actors like Harshvardhan Rane, Nikita Dutta, Ehan Bhatt, who are part of the Hindi version. The Tamil version stars Kalidas Jayram, Arjun Das, Sanchana Natarajan. Bijoy says, “We have shot two versions with the same flavours, there are no changes in it. I have tried to give the same treatment to both of them; it is just that the language is different. I had an option of shooting only one version and dubbing it in a different language like nowadays everyone prefers to do it. However, I don’t prefer it as it does not work at times. But I assure you that apart from actors, there are not much changes in both films. 90% of the film is the same.”

It is said that the makers had the same crew on the sets and all the scenes were shot with the entire cast one after the other. For example, if the first scene is shot with actors of Hindi version, then the same scene used to be shot with Tamil actors or vice versa.

Interestingly, TJ Bhanu is the only actress who is going to be seen in both the versions. The film is produced by T-Series and is slated for release on March 1, 2024.
