Bobby Deol bagged ‘Animal’ role due to Celebrity Cricket League?

The Mumbai Hero’s team in Celebrity Cricket League announced their squad recently. Co-owner Sohail Khan introduced his team members in an event, where Bobby Deol and Saqib Saleem were present. In an interaction with the media, Bobby confessed that he got his famous character of Abrar from the film ‘Animal’ because of CCL.

Although Bobby was present for the launch of his team, he won’t be able to play the entire season this year and says, “My life has changed after ‘Animal’, whatever is happening is wonderful. I wish I could play and entertain people. It is a great chance for us, too, as we get to entertain ourselves by playing. I have been passionate about cricket since my childhood. I am watching the current Test series of India and England; the young boys are doing an amazing job. I am shooting during the tournament so I will not be able to go and play matches of CCL, but I will go for the opening match.”

Bobby confesses that he is going to miss the fun this year and says, “I really miss it, because I never went on school trips. I was not allowed to go on one. When I started playing for CCL, I felt that I have once again become a school kid, they all are like my friends and classmates. We travel and go and meet people from different industries. All of them had watched my movies since they were kids. I get a lot of love, I used to get along well with them. I will try to follow the season as it is going to be shown on various networks this year. It feels like a bigger event this year than before. I have told them that if they reach the semi finals then I will come and play with them.”

During one of the interviews, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, director of the film ‘Animal’, had said that he saw Bobby looking intensely at someone and chose to offer him the character of Abrar in his hit film ‘Animal’. To this, Bobby says, “I don’t know, maybe I was looking intensely because my team was losing at that time. I am sure there must be someone creating a fuss about something. I am lucky because of that one picture I got ‘Animal’. Sometimes in life certain things happen when you do what you love and that can take you to another direction. So, that is what has happened I guess.”

Explaining how he first got attracted to this league, he says, “I remember how I was approached for this league when Suniel Shetty told me about this. I went and saw that everyone was practising so hard. I realised that I cannot bat, but I enjoy bowling. I was amazed when I went into the stadium for the first time that there was so much noise that we could not hear properly. However, when the Indian Cricket Team plays, we keep wondering why he did not bowl well or stop the ball or why he did not hit the ball that way. When you go on the field then you realise that it is so difficult to do. I hope my team works hard and wins the title this time.”
