BV Rao to step down as Group Editor of TV9 Network?

BV Rao’s term as the Group Editor of TV9 Network is coming to an end next month, when the contract between him and TV9 Network expires. However, as per sources close to the development, TV9 Network is in the process of reviewing the contract and is reviewing its post-retirement employment engagement policies.

The Network is reportedly in discussions with Rao on the nature of his continuing association with the group.

Rao had joined TV9 Network towards the end of 2019 from FirstPost.com, where he was Editor. He had joined FirstPost in 2015.

Rao began his career in 1989 at Mid-Day Delhi. He joined Indian Express in 1991 as News Editor. In 1994, he joined Free Press Journal, where he had a two-year stint as Executive Editor. Rao has worked as a News and Communication Director at Reliance and has had stints at India Today Group, The Times of India, DNA Mumbai, Economic Times, Telegraph, The Pioneer, Business Standard, Star News, NewsX, Eenadu TV, Sahara Samay and Governance Now.

Meanwhile, TV9 Network has stated that Deep Upadhayay, Editor – Convergence & Strategy, TV9 Network, will take charge of Hindi (TV9Hindi.com) and English (News9Live.com) websites. This is following Shailesh Chaturvedi’s decision to move on as Editor – Hindi.
