CNN-News18 wins Gold for ‘Recharge Chennai’ campaign at the Asian Customer Engagement & Forum (ACEF) Awards

CNN-News18, India’s most awarded English News channel, added one more prestigious award to its tally at the recently concluded Asian Customer Engagement & Forum (ACEF) Awards for Excellence in Marketing Capabilities, CSR Activity and Rural Marketing. The channel’s unique initiative #RechargeChennai and the dedicated programming under it won Gold for the Best Crisis/ Disaster Assistance in CSR category.

In December 2015, a week after heavy rains and floods brought Chennai to a halt, killing hundreds of people and leaving thousands more marooned, CNN-News18 realized that people in the city had a critical need for staying connected with friends, family and local authorities. The channel joined hands with Mobikwik to help the citizens of Chennai to provide them with mobile recharge so that they could reach out to their loved ones and / or authorities. The campaign benefitted over 15,000 people in the city and idea addressed a very critical need in an hour of crisis.

The ACEF Award for Excellence in Marketing Capabilities, CSR Activity and Rural Marketing is organised by Customer Engagement Forum (CEF), one of Asia’s largest communities of customer engagement and advocacy professionals. The Award seeks to acknowledge and encourage marketers and CSR practitioners to uncover new ways to create and sustain long-term stakeholder engagement.
