Dainik Bhaskar Group hits back with a strong reaction after the IT Raid

The income tax department had conducted a raid on Dainik Bhaskar one of the largest media houses on Thursday morning at Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and other locations in connection with tax evasion. Along with Dainik Bhaskar, UP based news channel Bharat Samachar was also searched by the IT department in the charge of same accuse. 

According to the media reports, the IT searches underway at more than 30 locations linked to Dainik Bhaskar Group including the residences of its Promoters. 

The Dainik Bhaskar's reporting was aggressively active during the pandemic and has carried series of official claims on healthcare system of the country.  

This action by IT department forced some of the politicals like Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Kapil Sibal, Arvind Kejriwal to critize the media houses who are misusing the freedom of press in our country through their twitter accounts.

Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan in a twitter post said "the ‘income tax raid on Dainik Bhaskar newspaper and Bharat Samachar news channel is a brazen attempt to suppress the voice of the media. The Modi government cannot tolerate even an iota of its criticism. Due to its fascist mentality, the BJP doesn't want to see the truth in a democratic setup.”

Mamta Banerjee's Excerpts from Twitter post noted, "The attack on journalists and media houses is yet another BRUTAL attempt to stifle democracy. I strongly condemn this vindictive act that aims to suppress voices that bring out the TRUTH."

With these raised voices and political criticism, Bhopal headquartered newspaper Dainik Bhaskar hit back these criticisms through a social media campaign which stated 'the government was afraid of our journalism'. Addition to this, Dainik Bhaskar also posted a series of tweets in Hindi that read, “I am independent because I am Bhaskar. What shall rule Bhaskar is the readers’ will. Dainik Bhaskar is independent and will always keep on raising its voice in the interests of democracy.”
