Delhi HC adjourns Kantar case till 11th July 2014

In a much awaited update in the Kantar Media – TAM Media Research – Government of India case, the Delhi High Court, on 6th March 2014 has adjourned the hearing in the case till 11th July 2014.

Sources close to the development who have confirmed the news, have said that the reason for the adjournment was the unavailability of government’s for hearing. This adjournment would mean that the stay on the clauses related to cross-media holding in the television rating agency guidelines will continue till final orders.

It may be recollected that the High Court bench comprising on 12th February 2014 had stayed four clauses in the ‘Policy Guidelines for Television Rating Agencies in India’ pertaining to cross-media ownership thereby preventing a rating blackout. Also, Kantar was given more time by the bench to comply with the remaining provisions of the guidelines. Kantar was also asked to register itself within two weeks under the new policy guidelines and was directed to upload a list of affiliated advertising companies on its website along with the list of its major clients.
