Demand for organic food products will be high in 2020: Surya Shastry

Shrugging off the disruptions of the year gone by, businesses and agencies are looking for a strong revival in 2021. Over the next few weeks, Adgully – as part of its annual TRENDING NOW endeavour – will be presenting the strategies and views of a cross-section of industry leaders as they go about reclaiming lost time and market opportunities and build for a stronger future, armed with the lessons of 2020.

Surya Shastry, Managing Director, Phalada Organic Consumer Products, anticipates an increase in demand for organic food products, especially immunity-related products in 2021, due to the growing focus on health and wellness.

Outlook for 2021

The organic market has been growing steadily year on year and we might continue to see the growth in 2021 as well. Due to pandemic, because people are increasingly aware of their health and looking for cleaner products, they will continue to look for healthier and cleaner products.

Consumer behaviour trends

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we anticipate an increase in demand for organic food products. In the organic food market, immunity-related products are expected to see stronger growth. Having said that, it is hard to know what lies ahead of us. One thing is certain though, consumers will continue to trust in and depend on the organic label.

The entire organic supply chain has been working around the clock through this difficult time to keep stores filled with healthy, chemical-free and sustainably produced organic food and products and will continue to be there for the consumers.

Key learnings from 2020

The ongoing global pandemic made 2020 quite a challenging year. But through this, we have seen consumer behaviour change drastically. The pandemic pushed people to take a step back and think about the food they consume. They are more aware and conscious of the contents in the food packet. The focus on health and wellness is what further drove consumers to trust organic labelled products.
