Disney celebrates Donald Duck's birthday!

Donald Duck celebrates his birthday on June 9. To celebrate his birthday, Disney Channel will premiere “Three Musketeers” on June 9th at 11.00 am. Apart from this, a band called ‘The Other People’ have created two original songs (Hindi and English) for Donald’s Birthday.
 
Some interesting trivia related to Donald Duck:
 
  • On June 9, 1934 Donald Duck made his first appearance in the adorable cartoon “The Wise little Hen” which was part of the Silly Symphonies series of theatrical cartoon shorts. Even though the role was a small one, our plucky (and less than noble) took his first step in his rise to success
  • Donald Duck is known for his trademark temper in contrast to his positive outlook in life. He lost his temper for the first time on August 11th, 1934 when he appeared in the Mickey Mouse cartoon Orphan's Benefit.  The Gentle hearted Donald is one of several characters helping to put on a show for several orphans, and even tries to recite "Little Boy Blue” before he starts throwing   tantrums when the orphans start heckling him. This hilarious change of events couple with his fiery temper was an immediate hit with audience and became a staple for Many shorts where Donald started in a happy mood, without a care in the world, until something comes and spoils his day.
  • The original voice of Donald Duck was provided by Clarence "Ducky" Nash. The distinctive semi-intelligible speech that he created helped promote both Nash and Donald to stardom. Nash went on to voice Donald Duck in over 120 shorts and films over the next 50 years before eventually giving way to Disney artist Tony Anselmo. Donald was voiced by Clarence "Ducky" Nash from 1934 to 1983. Tony Anselmo has been voicing Donald Duck since 1985.
  • Donald Duck's full name, Donald Fauntleroy Duck, was revealed in the 1942 cartoon "Donald Gets Drafted."
  • Donald Duck and his cousin  Gladstone Gander have set the stage for many stories featuring the two cousins' confrontations. Known as the "Luckiest Duck in the World” Gladstone Gander’s arrogance and outrageous luck, combined with Donald's own ego and belief he can still best him despite all odds have become one of the most loved rivalries in Disney or or as Don Rosa's version of Scrooge comments, "Donald's eternal tendency towards self-destruction"
  • From 1942 to 1944, Walt Disney released six short films depicting Donald Duck's life in the U.S. Army. This series of films came to be known as the Army shorts. Cartoons included in the series include "Donald Gets Drafted" (1942), "The Vanishing Private" (1942), "Sky Trooper" (1942), "Fall Out Fall In" (1943), "The Old Army Game" (1943), and "Commando Duck" (1944).
  • Donald Duck's parents are Hortense McDuck and Quackmore Duck. Donald's sister is Della Thelma Duck, and his nephews are Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
