Mohit Malik, essaying the role of a Punjabi in his new show ‘Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si’ is currently on air on Star Plus. The show has been produced by Rajan Shahi, and has been becoming popular on the small screen ever since. Mohit Malik who came to fame with his role in ‘Doli Armaano ki’ has an exclusive chit-chat with Adgully. 

How does it feel to be a part of a Rajan Shahi show?
It is the best feeling in the world. I have a long association with him since my show ‘Miilee’ which he had directed. We were always in touch and a couple of years back we did shoot for a pilot but it did not work out. But finally we are working together again.

What makes Rajan Shahi stand apart from other makers?
His honesty and passion towards his work makes him special. I always thought that no one can be more hard-working than me but after working with Rajan Shahi, I have realised that he is the most hard-working producer. His team looks up to him for his dedication in work. The atmosphere at the set is so positive and vibrant, you feel like coming to work every-day and giving your 100 percent to your performance. If you are stressed, creativity doesn’t come out.

How would you describe your character ‘Kunal’ in Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si?
I love the character graph of Kunal. To my knowledge, no-one is black or white, we all have grey patterns. And we quickly judge a person. There is something in Kunal’s upbringing which makes him different as a character. The show begans with him, looking for a voice for his music company, and he meets Vandana who is a singer. The characters of both Kunal and Vandana are written in a very interesting way.

What is music in Mohit Mailk’s life?
When I was doing ‘Kulfi Kumar Bajewala’, I was deeply connected with music. And now with this show, the connection has become deeper. Every time I work in a show I have a different playlist as I feel music helps you to extract the exact emotions.

Is there any pressure to make this role successful?
I never take pressure for the popularity of my character. My aim is to play the character given to me with full potential. If I lack somewhere, my producer and director can correct me. I am focused on my work and my preparation starts the moment I hear the narration.

You look almost the same as you did years ago. What is the secret?
Spending time with my family, playing with my son and when I hit my bed at night, I am at peace. I try to be sane in this insane world. I am a disciplinarian, eat healthy and workout regularly.
