Exclusive | Riding on faster delivery, safer distribution: eBUS' Carmine Masiello

With a presence across Asia pacific, eBUS is one of the fastest growing companies, a leading cloud computing software development firm engaged in developing video content management and distribution technology for the media industry.

The company has a unique method for delivery of TV Commercials using cloud based solution that digitally delivers TV Commercials and other video content across Asia Pacific to Broadcasters, Web and Mobile media using the Internet. Says Carmine Masiello, CEO, eBUS, “This results in flexibility, faster delivery, safer distribution, higher quality content, saves money, manages stock footage and an estimated reduction in the impact on the environment by more than 95 per cent. This is likely to replace the current method of physically delivering to Broadcasters using plastic polycarbonate video tapes.”

So how does eBUS delivers this solution vis-à-vis the traditional method?

The traditional delivery of TV commercials is done by putting content onto a physical tape, then couriering this tape to where it needs to go in the world, then having to put this   tape into a climate controlled storage library. eBUS completely eliminates this process by doing everything via the cloud. This brings a CO2-e reduction of 95 per cent +/-. For its efforts the company has won the Top Honour Award for Green IT in Singapore. It also measures the carbon footprint of the company and then purchases carbon credits to ensure that operations are carbon neutral. The company invested in a wind power project in Maharashtra, India last year.

It was the first company in Asia Pacific that digitally delivered the first HD TV commercial to air on TV3, a New Zealand Broadcast channel in November 2011. Since then, eBus has been working with a number of broadcasters across region's to assist in them making the conversion to receiving HD files through the eBUS system. HD Commercials are sent in the same HD format broadcasters play to air. Files are automatically checked when the sender uploads to eBUS, ensuring broadcast specifications are always met. This means HD commercials can be sent faster, easier and at any time of the day or night. What used to take days and a large number of people, now takes only minutes and can be completed by a single operator. Thus the company helps client save a lot of time, money, stress and resource.

eBUS currently operates in Singapore, India, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. We have plans to cover all of Asia Pacific. Says Carmine, “our clients include advertisers, agencies, post production houses and TV broadcasters. We enable our clients to be able to quickly and easily send broadcast quality commercial content to any of our Broadcast destinations in Asia Pacific. It means we can have an advertiser from anywhere in the world send a single commercial through eBUS and it can distributed immediately to all Broadcast destinations we have available.”

As for its India activities, eBUS Media Networks (Singapore) and Aidem Ventures (India) announced their joint venture to offer solutions for digital distribution and management of television commercials to advertisers, agencies, media owners, content producers and broadcasters in India on January 10, 2011.

eBUS currently offers two distinct services in India, namely Standard Delivery (within 8 hours) and Express Delivery (within 4 hours). To quote the most recent experiences, 2/3rd of the clients onboard IPL Season 5 used the eBUS Platform to deliver their TVCs. Most clients turned to the Express Delivery to meet the channel deadline for the recently launched show, Satyamev Jayate.

The company already enjoys a Pan India presence as far as the television industry is concerned. With over 190 channels on board, the service is present not just in the national but also the regional television space covering more than 70 per cent of the Southern market and all other regional language channels like Odia, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Urdu, Bhojpuri etc.
