Frozen Planet II is a breath-taking visual ode to Earth’s frozen realms

Sony BBC Earth is back after a gap of 11 years with its television documentary series, ‘Frozen Planet II’. ‘Frozen Planet II’ is narrated  by David Attenborough and is produced by the Natural History Unit of BBC Studios in association with BBC America, The Open University Migu Videos, ZDF and France Television.

‘Frozen Planet II’ provides a glimpse into the Earth’s frozen realms – the polar regions, high mountains, frozen desserts, snowbound forests, and ice-cold oceans. The documentary provides an unparalleled experience of the frozen world and various lives that thrive in it despite the challenging odds. The series displays various wildlife species such as penguins, foxes, polar bears, different species of birds, whales, seals and various microscopic species under water all brought to us by the latest technology; racer drones. The portrayal of lives is depicted flawlessly.

The results are brilliant – whether it is underwater shots of whales or polar bears hunting as a pack. All of them are visually impressive and breath-taking. Also, the depiction of the relationship between a mother and its child in some species is presented very beautifully.

The show is pretty honest about the chances of survival and is not afraid to show us the fates of creatures. This season also features new dramatic behaviours and intimate stories for the first time.

Overall, it is a win in being informative and entertaining at the same time.
