I do selective work out of choice: Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor is playing an actress in the upcoming thriller, ‘Murder Mubarak’, on Netflix. The actress has chosen to make her rare appearance in the film, which stars Sara Ali Khan, Sanjay Kapoor, Vijay Varma, Pankaj Tripathi and others. The film is directed by Homi Adjania and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.

The actress admits that she has been choosy about her roles and says, “As all of you know that I have been selective about choosing my roles. So, when Homi called me for this film, I agreed. He is a very dear friend of mine. We went to school together and grew up together. He is a fantastic and quirky guy and filmmaker. When I heard the script, my first reaction was that I have to be part of this unusual script. You will get to see a different me in it. I do selective work out of choice. I like doing that and want to be comfortable, sail in my own space. That is the genuine truth. I am lucky and thankful that I am in a position where I can say yes or no. Hopefully I will do more work, but it depends on what I like. Today, I want to do interesting roles, which will make me leave home. I am lucky enough to get a chance to play different roles over the years. I need to be motivated and excited to work.”

On what made her select this film, Karisma says, “I think, on OTT things are much more realistic and prepared, not that they are in films. But in OTT, you have a lot more reading and lot more time is given. There are different formats, such as a series which is a longer one and this one is a film. Interesting thing for me in this film is that she is an actress and may be kind of a dream girl in suspense movies. She is quirky, real and eccentric, but she is human. That is what I found intriguing and different. Homi’s thoughts were that she may be OTT in her ways, but she is human. So, I really liked that aspect of her and you will get to see a different me.
