I take the blame when my films don’t do well - Salman Khan

The Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Emraan Hashmi starrer Tiger 3 is officially a hit now. The film released on Diwali and beat the festive day and World Cup distractions to cross over ₹400 crore in mere 10 days. Tiger 3 is directed by Maneesh Sharma, whereas, the second part, titled Tiger Zinda Hai was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who also directed Salman in Sultan.  Salman spoke to the media after the success of the film as he has been associated with the Tiger franchise for more than a decade now.

About the success of the third Tiger franchise, he shares: “The entire credit goes to Kabir Khan. He started the franchise with ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and the film was a huge success. One can't go ahead with the franchise unless the original is a huge hit. Then Ali Abbas Zafar took it forward with Tiger Zinda Hai , which also was a huge success. I would say Maneesh has made one of the best films in the Tiger series.”

Salman also shares that the film got a lot of praise for the action sequences. Moreover, the evergreen chemistry between Avinash and Zoya (Salman khan and Katrina Kaif) has been the talk of the town. On this, Salman says: “The husband and wife chemistry was the best and that’s a huge compliment.”

Starting with Pathan, the two superstars of Indian films Shah Rukh and Salman have been doing this amazing cameo. In Tiger 3 also we see some great scenes between them, which has added to its appeal. Sharing about their special bond Salman says: “If there is no bonding between co-stars there is no chemistry on screen.  I have always done double hero roles. Perhaps I am the only person who has done maximum double hero films. My bonding with Sanjay Dutt was also great. I never have problems with double hero or triple hero films. Now-a-days, the generation is very insecure they don’t do double hero or multiple hero movies. We were secure and we understand that if two heroes work together the number of fans increase for both the actors. So the chances of the film being a hit are much more.” Salman also assures that a full-fledged film with Shah Rukh Khan is on the cards as well which he will announce when the appropriate time comes.”

Salman Khan has had a long career in Bollywood and has seen many successes and failures. When asked how he has been dealing with it , he says: “I don’t deal with them. I finish my work and it’s for the audience to watch the film and appreciate.  I feel happy when my films are appreciated. I do feel bad when my films fail because everyone has worked so hard on making a film. We understand that we shouldn’t disappoint them and work harder on the next one.”

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which released earlier this year was a disaster at the box-office. Speaking about the blame game which happens most of the time after a film flops, Salman says: “I take the blame when my films don’t do well,  whereas I don’t take credit for the films which have done well as I am a part of the film but not responsible for it solely.  You work with good directors who bring the film on Friday and when the film does well  after Monday the credit goes to the writers, DOPs and everyone because they have worked hard to make the film a success.  We are responsible for the films that don’t do well.  We don’t work hard and we put the blame on others. When you have doubts don’t go ahead with the film because you make the film to satisfy your ego.”

Salman who got fame after blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya will be reuniting again with Sooraj Kumar Barjatya in an untitled film.  He adds: “I am doing Sooraj Barjatya’s next film.  I stay in a large joint family consisting of 60 people who watch films together. Sooraj Barjatya is the only director who can make such family films.  Prem of Maine Pyar Kiya is my favourite character till date.”

Salman is extremely happy for his niece, Alizeh’s, daughter of Alvira and Atul. Her debut film ‘Farrey’ has got some great positive reviews and audience also liked it. Sharing his excitemen, Salman says: “Farrey released on my dad, Salim Khan’s birthday, I am more than happy for Alizeh  as her film was hugely appreciated.  Initially she didn’t want to be an actor, we convinced her to do the film.  I am glad  that a  film with newcomers has done well. I am happy for my sister, Atul and Alizeh specially. Let’s see what the future holds for her. The film does not have any particular format but she had her own personality and worked hard. She didn’t want to do a solo film. People call me a secure actor but I don’t think I am as secure as Alizeh in her first film.”
