I’ve been wanting to do a horror film for a long time: Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film ‘Shaitaan’ is based on casting a spell on someone. The film is based on Gujarati film ‘Vash’, which was released last year. At the trailer launch of the film, Ajay Devgn spoke about his love for this genre.

Ajay was in Bhopal shooting with producer Kumar Mangat Pathak for another film when he heard the story of this film. “I heard the script and we loved it. I have been wanting to do a horror film for a long time. I did one horror film, ‘Bhoot’ with Ram Gopal Varma. I love this genre and I feel everybody connects with the genre easily. Everybody connects. I believe in every culture, religion and India or out of India, everyone believes in black magic. The base of the story was very strong, hence we chose to do this film. We have adapted the film in our own way and made some changes in it. I also want to tell you that this has a message that ultimately good wins over evil.”

The actor thinks whether you are a big or small actor, they want to do such films and says, “It’s not that we do not want to do horror films if we get an interesting script  then we will do it. The horror and supernatural genre is very popular across all industries. In our industry, too, we have made many such films. I think  Ramsay Brothers made so many films and their films would work as well, irrespective of whether the starcast. I like this genre and I was longing to do a film in this genre for a long time. When I did ‘Bhoot’ we got a lot of appreciation, but after that I didn’t get any right script.”

The film also stars R Madhavan, Jyotika, Anngad Raaj, Janki Bodiwala, who also feature in the Gujarati version and played the same role in the film. It is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. The film is releasing on March 8.
