I would like to meet Aditya Chopra one day & work with him : Divyani Gandhi

Actress Divyani Gandhi has worked in Amazon’s recent show Bambai Meri Jaan and Zee 5’s Kaafir. Apart from being an actor, she is also an entrepreneur and Founder of The Silly Cat Company. Divyani has been receiving a lot of love and appreciation for her role in Bambai Meri Jaan.

Speaking about the most talked about series she says,”Bambai Meri Jaan has been a great opportunity. I have been getting a lot of messages and one common factor is they want to see more of me. They have a sympathetic approach towards my role and especially the women of India can relate to this.” She also adds “One feedback that stuck with me was what I received from my director Shujaat Saudagar when he gave me a warm hug at the wrap up party. He was confident about me delivering.”

Divyani, who has never thought of becoming an actor, shares she is happy with her journey. Though it’s slow but impactful and like a tortoise eventually she is going to win the race.

Divyani is someone who has done good work on OTT. Sharing that she says,”When I started I was happy that OTT was getting introduced here. This is the place where actors are getting their due irrespective of whether they have backgrounds in acting or not. It’s a space where talent matters the most. People do ask about do’s and don’ts on OTT for an actor whether it is showing your body or speaking abusive dialogues on camera. I feel an actor should not restrict themselves with all these things. Sometime an actor’s performance enhances due to that and it also shows the layers of a character.”

Apart from her acting career Divyani also has her own business - Silly Cat Company which she started 4 months back. It is all about fragrances. She says,”It’s a gift from god. My father always wanted me to have my own business. I have been getting a lot of good response.” So do you feel an actor needs a good backup?

She says,”I don’t think back up is the right word. We can say multiple sources of income. No profession can be a back up, it’s all in the front seat you just jump from one place to another.”

Lastly sharing about her inspiration Divyani says,”I would like to meet Aditya Chopra one day and would love to work with him. The kind of fascination and intelligence he has towards film making is so admirable. He looks at films and the way he analyses that is too inspirational.”
