IAMAI Digital Health Summit highlights advancements in healthcare sector

“Today, within digital platforms around 71% of communication happens through SMS, 13% through Rich Communication Services (RCS), 8% through OTT, and 8% through voice. With respect to RCS as a channel, healthcare consumes 25% and is currently positioned at Number 3 after BFSI and retail,” said Adithya P Sharma, Vice President, Whistle, while moderating a fireside chat on “Digital Communications -- A Catalyst to Healthcare in India,” during the Digital Health Summit 2023, organised by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) here today.

“With this background, the ultimate objective of any brand is customer satisfaction. And all these platforms can be better utilized to enhance the customer experience in all aspects,” Mr. Sharma added.

IAMAI presented the first edition of the Digital Health Summit, a conference dedicated to exploring the transformative potential of technology in achieving 'Digital Health for all' in India. The theme of the conference was “Positioning India as a Global Leader in Digital Healthcare”. Set against the backdrop of rapid technological advancements in the healthcare sector, this summit addressed the opportunities, directions, and eventual winners that will shape the next decade. The IAMAI Digital Health Summit 2023 brought together policymakers, regulators, industry experts, thought leaders and innovators to deliberate on the current issues that technology is effectively addressing within the healthcare landscape.

Industry leaders and renowned figures from the healthcare sector, including Mr. Prashant Tandon, Co-Founder & CEO of TATA 1mg; Dr. Alexander Kuruvilla, Chief Health Strategy Officer, Practo & Co-Chair, IAMAI Health Tech Committee; Ms. Priya Gilbile, Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Cigna Health Insurance; and Mr. Jayaramakrishnan, Head, Amazon Pharmacy, were among the distinguished attendees at the day-long event held in Delhi.

The IAMAI Digital Health Summit 2023 was powered by Whistle, a cloud-based guest messaging service that helps businesses in the hospitality industry communicate with customers, manage tasks, automate workflows, and more on a unified platform.

During the fireside chat panelist Priyadarshini Narendra, Vice President, Birla Fertility & IVF highlighted the need for India to have digital consultations for people residing in remote areas so that healthcare could have a bigger outreach. “Families in India lack privacy at homes. People find it difficult to open up on topics such as IVF. The biggest advantage of digital healthcare is that you can ask questions to somebody through teleconsultations. It is difficult for patients to go long distances for health consultations,” she said.

The Digital Health Summit witnessed participation from over 500+ attendees, 150+ companies, 50+ speakers and over 15+ sessions. The summit was conducted at The Lalit, New Delhi.
